The River John Community Action Society (RJCAS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving life in the Village of River John and its surrounding areas in Nova Scotia. A notable project is the waterfront development plan, which included building a slipway for small coastal watercraft and enhancing visitor experiences along the North Shore
What We Do...
This group helps to look after Bissell Park, including grounds, washroom, the benches, deck and dock. The Pioneer newspaper, which is published three times per year and is distributed free to residents of the River John area, is part of RJCAS’s mandate. Roger’s Landing also falls under the hat of RJCAS, including securing funding for the creation and upkeep. The group makes financial donations to other community groups, including The River John Festival Days committee, to help with their week- long event, the Lions Club Christmas Dinner and the hiring of a Recreation Committee summer student to help with park maintenance and day camp.
RJCAS meets at the Lions Den on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm (except July & August). All village and area residents are welcome to attend and new members are encouraged to join. Your input and participation would be greatly appreciated!
